We have had to cancel the Junior Competition arranged at Swanston on Sunday 17th December

Unfortunately Sue Cowie’s father has died and as Sue organises the event I have decided to cancel it

Report from Adult and Girl Competition at Swanston, on 19/11/2017

23 girls came with their Adults to play in our competition yesterday, in sunny but cold conditions. This was a great turnout. We were lucky enough to have our President Norma Richmond on hand to act as starter and to present the prizes, and Captain Jacky Burnett on the check in desk. Thank you ladies!

Results were as follows:

Scratch prize Brian Marshall and Ella Marshall 32

1st handicap, and winners of the Hennesey Gold Cup, Alasdair McLeish and Holly McLeish, (net) 20
2nd handicap, Louise Massey and Phoebe Massey, (net) 21
3rd handicap, David Simson and Natasha Simson, (net 22).

Winner of the under 8 prize was Ruby Keys.

Thanks go to Swanston New Golf Club for allowing us to host the event on the Templar course and to the Stephen Gallacher Foundation for letting us use their "cabin" for checking in.

A HUGE thank you is also due to Yvonne Wilson who very kindly provided the main prizes and the goody bags for all the girls. Thanks also to Louise Fraser who provided cereal bars for the girls.

Don't forget girls, there is a 9 hole competition at Swanston on the 3rd Sunday of every month (apart from the school holidays). Watch this website for details.

Afterwards please head to the Golfer's Bar for coffee, bacon rolls if you have ordered them (there's still time...) and the Prizegiving.

Upcoming Adult and Girl Foursomes competition at Swanston Templar course, 19th November 2017, at 9am

We are running this popular event on Sunday 19th November, at 9.00am. There is still time to enter, but spaces are filling up quickly, and we may be oversubscribed (in which case it will have to be first come, first served). If you wish to enter and have not done so already please email Sue Cowie by Wednesday 15th November, with names and handicaps (if you have one).

The cost is £10 per couple, payable on the day, and there will be a prize giving after the event in the downstairs (Golfers) bar in the Swanston Clubhouse.

The draw will be posted on this website after Wednesday.

There will be the usual 9 hole event on the Swanston Templar course, on Sunday 15th October 2017, at 9.30am. If you can let us know in advance that you are coming (email sarah.c.hannay@gmail.com) that would be helpful, but if that is not possible you can just turn up for 9.30am. The cost is £5 payable on the morning.

Swanston event this Sunday 17th September 2017

There will be a 9 hole competition this Sunday for the junior girls on the Swanston Templar course. Tee times are from 9.30am (It should only take about an hour and a quarter to go round - a nice way to spend a Sunday morning). MCLGA Girls Championship

This event will be held at Turnhouse this year, on Sunday 10th September 2017, with times from 2.00pm. All juniors with a CONGU handicap who would like to play please email sharonmac67@sky.com before 3rd September.

17 girls took part in this competition with their adults. The weather was kind to us, with very little wind and no rain! There were some great scores.

Winners of the scratch prize were Georgia and Sarah Ledingham with a score of 33 (better last 6 holes).

This popular 9 hole foursomes competition will be held on Sunday 20th August, with tee times from 9.30am. The cost is £10 per pair, payable on the day.

If you would like to enter please email sharonmac67@sky.com with names and handicaps (if you have one), by Sunday 13th August. The draw will be available on this website from Wednesday 16th August.

Adults/girls do not have to have a handicap to enter this event, and if your daughter does not have a partner to play with but would like to play please let us know and we will do our best to arrange for someone to play with her.

Junior Girls 9 hole event at Swanston Sunday 21st May 2017.

We will be running the usual 9 hole event this Sunday morning at 9,30 on the Swanston Templar (short) course. Sue Cowie will be in charge. Please email Sarah Ledingham at sarah.c.hannay@gmail.com if you are coming so that we can make sure we have enough tee times. Cost is £5. 

Cuthbertson Cup

The morning saw us go down to a very strong Fife team. Although we were down on most matches for most of the time the girls fought extremely hard with most matches finishing on the 17th. In the afternoon we faced East Lothian who lost on count back to S & C.

In the afternoon we faced East Lothian and although we fought to the last we lost 1/2 to 11/2 each game going to the 18th.   Carys and Eilidh played first followed by Alex and Sam.  Both pairs fought   hard but failed to conquer the eighteenth hole to clinch each match - the first pair getting a half whilst the second pair lost one down.  The girls showed great determination and tenacity fighting to the last.
Fife went on to win the trophy in a convincing manner.

Thanks to Carys, Alex, Sam and especially Eilidh who captained the team well.

Girls Spring Meeting - Liberton Golf Club

11 girls took part in the Girls Spring Meeting at Liberton on Monday 10 April. The weather was not too bad with only a couple of showers and a nice Spring day. Course was in great condition and thanks go to Liberton for all their help on the day.
